"Developing A Killer Concept"

Finding a bankable idea that will resonate with a wide range of people is essential to get a script produced.

Create YOUR Character

As an actor, you possess unique characteristics that distinguish you as both a person and a performer. Go beyond scenes for a demo reel. In this class, you will discover how to uncover and exemplify these characteristics to create your own work and book more jobs. Rob Margolies’ direct, creative approach is reflected in the results of his own extensive credit list, as well as the careers of many actors and creators he has worked with.

Seminar Breakdown

Prior to the Seminar

You will be asked to submit your headshot, resume, reel, or links of your work for Rob to review.

This is followed by a one-hour private consultation with on Zoom the day before the live Zoom seminar. Prior to this call, Rob will supply you with notes on your work, your strengths and weaknesses, as well as a list of characters in your wheelhouse and subjective advice on what he would do if he were you, trying to break into Hollywood as an actor and creator.

            Day 1

 Private Zoom Call

During the Zoom call, Rob’s goal is to help you get closer to your goals. Character is only half the battle. And the easy part. The concept is equally as important as character, but it requires more thought and innovation because this is how you will get your audience to pay close attention to your character.

              Day 2

 Seminar with Group

The next day, you’ll attend the two-hour seminar on CONCEPT. Rob will give you an overview of what concepts and characters make the most successful short film, web series, and TV pilot. He will then break down the elements and beats that every feature film must have, along with the proper format and setup for how to write an outline and treatment. Whether you’re a screenwriter or not, being able to write a 7-10 page treatment for a fantastic concept can sometimes lead to a deal faster than a screenplay itself.

By the end of the class, you will walk away with a detailed, personalized evaluation of your strengths and growth areas as an actor. As a creator, you will have the intel on how to write an outline and treatment for an executable concept with a dynamic lead role at your fingertips.

Price for Admission: $149

Please note: Class size is limited. There will be no refunds. If you have a scheduling conflict, please contact us to reschedule you for the next round of classes.

5 Secrets & Specific Tips

   to Lock an Investor

I am most often asked: “How do you get your films funded?!” I would need an hour to really answer this question. Plus, after the hour I know you will have a question or two.

There are two types of filmmakers, those who can’t find funding and those who can. Everybody wants to be the latter type of filmmaker. There are many books on how to find funding and there are a lot of others who tell you their secrets. I’ve read all the books and I still to this day pay to listen to anybody else preaching about this topic. I can see why you, yes you, reading this now still need guidance. I know that listening to everybody else out was not enough for me.

In addition to giving you 5 major options that have worked time and time again for me, I will also give you an overview of the industry and a checklist of items you must have in place before you are ready to look into a donor's eyes and convince them that your dreams are worth writing a check for.

Price of Admission: $28 per person.

120-minutes (2 hours long)

Please note: There are no refunds. If you have a schedule conflict, please contact us to reschedule you for the next round of classes.

COMMON MISTAKES TO  AVOID IN PRODUCING

Whether you are gearing up to make your first feature film or you are a prolific producer, your mind will be expanded and you will hear many fascinating and juicy true stories about how difficult it is to make a movie… and continue to make movies.

From the script (writing, optioning, purchasing), to casting (non-union, SAG, and star names), budgeting and scheduling, finding investors, hiring crew, making the paperwork easy, production, post-production, film festivals, sales agents, and distribution — this seminar will overview all aspects of producing.

Price of Admission: $21 per person.

150-minutes (2.5 hours long)

Please note: There are no refunds. If you have a schedule conflict, please contact us to reschedule you for the next round of classes.

How to Make a Star-Studded

Feature Film for Under $100,000

There is no better way to learn than firsthand. This is a very unique and special class where we will break down the 5-figure budgets, dollar for dollar, of two feature films that I released in 2020 called “IMMORTAL” and “YES” (both available on VOD and Amazon Prime).

You will learn where to spend money and where not to spend money and what goes into each and every one of my decisions to be, or not to be frugal. This is a very personal class but for those who are serious enough to know how I did, I invite you  to hear about my own experiences and my process which you will be able to learn from.

Price of Admission: $44 per person

180-minutes (3 hours long)

Please note: There are no refunds. If you have a schedule conflict, please contact us to reschedule you for the next round of classes.

Developing A Killer Concept

Finding a marketable idea that will resonate with a wide audience is essential to get a script produced. The reason why most independent feature film scripts don’t see the light of day has everything to do with the concept. A seasoned writer doesn’t need to sell a script, sometimes all they need to pitch is the right concept to get that green light. Learn how.

Once you have your amazing concept, the screenplay for every successful feature film, no matter how abstract it may be, contains 15 crucial beats within the story. Learning the significance of each beat in fine detail and identifying each beat before writing your screenplay will inevitably make it easy to write the script, or sell the fleshed-out concept.

Whether you are starting your first screenplay or you are a seasoned writer, you will leave this seminar with more confidence, knowledge, and ability to know what elements go into a bankable 2-5 page outline as well as a 7-10 page treatment which easily translates into a feature length screenplay.

Price of Admission: $28 per person.

150-minutes (2.5 hours long).

Please note: There are no refunds. If you have a schedule conflict, please contact us to reschedule you for the next round of classes.
